New Clean Power Plan to Bring a Wave of Solar Opportunity

Florida is currently ranked third in highest levels of power plant pollution emission, behind only Pennsylvania and Texas. But it may not be that way for long.

In a corner of the country nicknamed “The Sunshine State”, you might think more big businesses and homeowners would have turned to solar power, but only now is attention really turning toward the skies. There is an enormous amount of potential for harnessing massive amounts of sunlight from the (usually) sunny skies. Now, Central Florida’s solar energy potential, along with the growing public support of clean energy projects, has finally steered the Environment Protection Agency toward a new Clean Power Plan. This plan is due to go into action in a number of states, and analyses have already begun to establish which states could most benefit from it. Florida, of course, was one of the highest ranking.

The goal of implementing such a plan is two-fold, make current gas and coal power plants more efficient and build on both current solar energy initiatives and energy efficiency savings. The EPA is setting new standards for all forms of power and are even making arrangements to fine tune current regulations on housing to promote better energy efficiency savings. Not only do these goals help promote the use of solar power in the Sunshine State, but it is also giving property owners of all kinds the peace of mind that Florida’s future is still shining.

But the benefits of the new Clean Power Plan don’t stop there. It is going to create over 10,000 new jobs for Floridians in of the energy efficiency kind, which means economic growth for the state and the industry. Ultimately, the EPA’s new plan is going to save money on a state-wide level and put that money back into the hands of the people.
